Storm Season Hits Perth

aaa7

Last night the Cockburn SES unit attended five call outs over the course of the night. We attended two leaking roofs, a skylight which had been blown off by the wind, a roof with tile damage and a house which had damage to its’ airconditioning unit.

Storms are expected to persist for the next three days. To keep your family safe, please see the following recommnedations from DFES (formerly FESA) below.

Coastal suburbs have been the most affected by the storm.

WHAT TO DO: DFES’s SES has these tips to help you and your family stay safe: • Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways • Be careful of fallen trees, debris and damaged buildings • Keep clear of fallen powerlines, they are dangerous and should always be treated as live • Check on friends and neighbours to see if they need help • Contact your insurance company or property manager to organise permanent repairs.

SES volunteers respond on a priority basis and people are asked to remain patient. People are being urged to do what they can to help themselves, if it is safe to do so, before calling the SES for assistance.
